HOUSTON, TX — Webber, a U.S. construction subsidiary of Ferrovial, has been awarded two water projects in Texas. The contracts amount to about $46 million.

The North Texas Municipal Water District and Garney Construction have selected Webber for the construction of four project packages at the Sister Grove Regional Water Resource Recovery Facility in McKinney, Texas. The total value of the work packages is estimated to be $31.9 million. The contract includes excavation, piping install, and construction of tertiary filter facility, as well as the installation of various types of pipelines.

The facility will reach an average annual daily treatment capacity of 46 million gallons per day (MGD) in peak flow, with the possibility to be extended up to 256 MGDs in the future. The work is expected to be completed by December 2023.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Water System has selected Webber to complete the improvements and upgrades to its Leon Creek Water Recycling Center. The contract is valued at about $14 million.

The scope of work includes the construction of new electrical building at the plant headworks, replacement of the grit removal equipment, structural repair to the flow equalization basins, and demolition of the structures no longer in use, among other tasks. The project is scheduled to last about 18 months, with scheduled completion expected in November 2022.
