AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approves financial assistance totaling approximately $104.98 million for water, wastewater, and flood projects:
- $379,000 to the Ellis Prairie Soil and Water Conservation District (Ellis County) for a dam inundation study
- $37.64 million to the Parker County Special Utility District (Parker County) for water system improvements
- $612,245 to the City of Alice (Jim Wells County) for lead service line inventory
- $60, million to the City of Amarillo (Randall and Potter counties) for wastewater system improvements
- $3.69 million to the City of Rosebud (Falls County) for drainage improvements
- $2.65 million to the City of Tenaha (Shelby County) for wastewater system improvements
TWDB also has authorized execution of grant contracts not to exceed $65.97 million through the Flood Mitigation Assistance program. The grants are funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and will be used for a variety of flood mitigation activities.
The TWDB administers FEMA’s Flood Mitigation Assistance grant program for Texas, and FEMA accepts applications for these grants annually. Thirteen communities received subgrants from the fiscal year 2020 Flood Mitigation Assistance grant program.
The Flood Mitigation Assistance grant program assists communities by providing federal funds for cost-effective measures to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of flood damage to buildings, manufactured homes, and other structures insurable under the National Flood Insurance Program.
