ROCKDALE, TX — FabArc Steel Supply Inc. announces the completion of its structural steel scope for the project known as G2_Austin Solar Cell Fab in Rockdale, Texas. FabArc Steel Supply fabricated and supplied approximately 3,374 tons of structural steel, supporting construction of what is expected to become one of the nation's largest domestic solar cell manufacturing fabs.
The project is owned by T1 Energy Inc., and the contractor is W. G. Yates & Sons Construction Company (Yates Construction). PBI Inc. is serving as the structural steel erector, and International Design Services Inc. is providing steel detailing services.

The G2_Austin Solar Cell Fab project represents a significant investment in expanding domestic solar manufacturing capacity. According to T1 Energy, the first phase of the project represents a $400 to $425 million investment and is expected to create up to 1,800 advanced manufacturing jobs in Milam County, Texas. Once operational, the first phase is expected to produce up to 2.1 gigawatts of high-efficiency TOPCon solar cells annually, increasing the United States' capacity to manufacture silicon-based solar cells while strengthening the domestic solar supply chain.
