These two major freight corridors handle international trade through ports-of-entry with Mexico. The project scope of work involves adding additional main lane travel lanes to IH 35 in each direction, construction of over 400,000 square feet of bridge deck, installation of more than 12 million pounds of steel girders, more than 32,000 linear feet of precast concrete girders, and construction of 100,000 square yards of concrete pavement.
“This project will be critical to expanding a key portion of Texas’s capacity for international trade with Mexico and Central America," said Josh Goyne, President of Webbers Heavy Civil Division. "We are excited to leverage our capabilities in Laredo and help build economic opportunities for the community and the state of Texas."
The project scope runs from Shiloh Drive to 0.38 miles South of US 59/IH 35 Interchange. The project is scheduled to last about 38 months, beginning in January 2021 with substantial completion expected in spring 2024.
