“It’s a pleasure and an honor to receive the AIA Fort Worth 2022 James R. Wooten Service Award,” Hill said. “Since joining in 1997, it has been my pleasure to have served for many years on the Executive Board and other committees and as President in 2011. With the involvement of a new generation of architects, I am confident that AIA Fort Worth will continue to be a vital part of the Fort Worth professional community helping to create better living and working environments.”
The James R. Wooten Service Award is presented to members who exemplify the characteristics of sustained, consistent, and effective service. Hill has been a long-standing member of the AIA Fort Worth chapter for over 25 years. His history with AIA includes his seven years of service to the executive board in which he became President in 2011. He has also served on the Honors Awards, Design Awards, and Fort Worth Homes Tour committees as well as on the Education Committee at TSA in 2012.
With 35 years of experience, Hill currently serves as Senior Associate and Project Director at VLK Architects.
“Lee is extremely deserving of this award,” said Justin Hiles, Chief Operations Officer of VLK Architects. “His service to AIA Fort Worth as both a board member and President, as well as his countless hours leading committees at both the local and state level, demonstrate his passion for architecture. He is an advocate for the importance of the built environment and how it impacts everyone. It an honor to work with Lee at VLK and to see his service to our clients and mentorship to our staff.”
