CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The Bob Hall Pier Reconstruction Project received the 2026 Project of the Year award from the Corpus Christi Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at the Joint Society Meeting and Awards Banquet. Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN), which provided program and construction management services for the project, received the award alongside Jacobs Engineering Group, the engineer of record. Nueces County also marked completion of the reconstructed pier with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Bob Hall Pier was permanently damaged during Hurricane Hanna in 2020, prompting Nueces County to initiate a comprehensive effort to demolish and reconstruct the structure. The reconstructed pier extends approximately 1,253 feet into the Gulf of Mexico and sits 18.5 feet above mean sea level, restoring public access to a popular coastal destination while improving resilience against erosion and storm surge.

LAN provided program and construction management services for the pier reconstruction, coordinating closely with Jacobs Engineering Group and contractors JM Davidson, Callan Marine LLC, and LMC Corporation throughout demolition, design, and construction. The project required coordination with several permitting and regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Texas General Land Office, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

“This project represents a significant investment by Nueces County to restore an important coastal landmark for residents and visitors,” said Scott Harris, PE, Project Manager at LAN. “Rebuilding the pier required close coordination among engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies, as well as careful planning to address the challenges of marine construction along the Gulf Coast.”

LAN currently continues to serve as program manager for several related improvements at the site, including development of a restaurant and concession facility, reconstruction of Gulf Beach Road, and construction of ADA-accessible parking. The program emphasizes coordination among stakeholders and long-term resilience for this coastal destination.
