Adolfson & Peterson Breaks Ground on SportsPark in Greenville, Texas

GREENVILLE, TX — Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), BRS Architecture, and the City of Greenville recently broke ground on the new multi-generational center at the SportsPark.

The SportsPark Center will be a new 120,390-square-foot recreation and athletic center featuring six basketball courts with an area designated for an interchangeable turf field, a recreation and lap pool, locker rooms, dry sauna, cabanas, lifeguard rooms, two party rooms, a childcare room, lounge, and office spaces. The second floor will include an indoor track, designated workout spaces, group fitness rooms, and an outdoor fitness terrace.

The Reecy Davis Center expansion project will include updating and remodeling the 18,177-square-foot facility originally constructed in 2002. The project includes new gymnasium flooring, updates to the bathroom lighting fixtures, plumbing, and flooring. Additionally, various improvements will be made to the existing aerobics, weight room, game room, and office spaces. The 13,655-square-foot addition will include an additional gym, game room, and multi-purpose spaces for Greenville residents.

“Adolfson & Peterson Construction is proud to partner with the City of Greenville on these transformative projects,” said Granger Hassmann, Vice President of Preconstruction and Estimating at AP. “Both the SportsPark and Reecy Davis Center represent significant investments in the city’s future, creating dynamic spaces for recreation, fitness, and wellness.”

Estimated completion dates for both projects are planned for May 2026.

City and other officials, along with AP and project partners gathered recently to celebrate the start of construction. Notable attendees included Mayor Jerry Ransom, City Manager Summer Spurlock, and Texas State Representative Brent Money.

“The expansion of Reecy Davis will take our city of 33,000 from having one public basketball court to eight. The new Recreation Center will include an aquatic center featuring a brand-new public pool,” Ransom said. “Greenville continues to grow, and having these amenities available to all of our residents will be transformative to the city and our community, as a whole.”

Barker-Rinker Seacat is the architecture firm working with AP on the project. AP has previously worked with the firm at the Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center in Allen, Texas.

“We are thrilled to see these transformational projects entering construction with a great team,” said Kevin Armstrong, Principal, Studio Partner at Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture. “These projects will be a true catalyst for health, wellness, and social benefit in the community.”
