ATLANTA, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announces that Tommy Bruce, PE, has been named the new Atlanta District Director of Transportation Planning and Development.
The Atlanta District includes Bowie, Camp, Cass, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Panola, Titus, and Upshur counties. The Atlanta District plans, designs, builds, operates, and maintains the state transportation system in its nine counties. The district primarily conducts asset preservation and mobility projects to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
In his new position, Bruce will direct the coordination of district-wide project planning and oversee advanced project development and public involvement.
Bruce began his career with TxDOT in 2006 in the Texarkana Area Office as an Engineering Assistant after graduating from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He joined the district maintenance office in 2013 and became the Maintenance Engineer in 2015. Bruce was named Mount Pleasant Area Engineer in 2019 and then Texarkana Area Engineer in 2021.
Bruce will continue to serve as Texarkana Area Engineer until that position is filled.
