AP Construction and Acadia Healthcare Complete El Paso Behavioral Hospital Expansion

EL PASO, TX — Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a national, family-owned construction management and contracting company, and Acadia Healthcare Company Inc., a provider of behavioral health care services across the U.S., recently completed a new addition to Rio Vista Behavioral Health Hospital in El Paso, Texas.

The 52,000-square-foot addition includes a pair of newly constructed two-story behavioral hospital units, adding 40 inpatient beds, along with outdoor recreation spaces and a new ground-up one-story outpatient center. As part of the project, the team also renovated 5,000 square feet of the existing 12-bed facility and added 14,000 square feet of parking space. The hospital expansion kicked off construction in February 2022.

“Completing the Rio Vista Behavioral Hospital means additional mental health beds are now available in El Paso. We are pleased that AP played such an integral role in bringing this vital need to the community,” said Addisu Negash, AP Senior Project Manager. “As mental illness needs have increased, so has the need for additional access to care without barriers. Adding beds to Rio Vista and renovating its current space will enable the hospital to better serve patients now and into the future.”

Acadia Healthcare, AP, Rio Vista Hospital, State of Texas representatives, local district representatives, and El Paso city officials celebrated the project’s completion this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The AP project team and associated trade partners were recognized for their work on the completed project, which enables the hospital to care for more patients in and around El Paso.

Rio Vista Behavioral Health offers comprehensive care for men, women, and children struggling with mental health and substance abuse concerns. The facility provides inpatient services tailored to each patient’s individual needs on their path to recovery.
