DALLAS, TX — Manhattan Construction Company announces the retirement of Bob Bowen, Senior Vice President, after 43 years of service. Bowen led Manhattan Construction Company’s operations across North and Central Texas, built long-term client relationships, delivered civic, sports, education, and faith-based projects, and established practices and cultural principles that continue to guide the organization.
“Bob’s leadership has had a lasting impact on Manhattan Construction Company,” said John Reyhan, President of Manhattan Construction Company. “He earned the trust of clients, built strong teams, and helped establish processes that strengthened our business development, client service, and preconstruction capabilities. Bob also played an important role in defining the culture that guides our people today. His influence will continue through the relationships he built and the many professionals he mentored.”
Bowen joined Manhattan Construction Company in 1981 after earning a degree in building construction from Texas A&M University. He began his career in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with projects in San Antonio and Austin, Texas, and Natchitoches, Louisiana, before returning to his home of Dallas, Texas, where he developed experience leading teams, serving clients, and managing complex construction assignments.
As Manhattan Construction Company expanded its presence across North and Central Texas, Bowen helped lead the delivery of several projects, including the original Texas Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, AT&T Stadium, the George W. Bush Presidential Center, Grapevine Main, the Dallas County Records Building, Westlake Academy, Village Town Center, and Harwood No. 14 office tower.
Bowen also provided long-term leadership in Manhattan Construction Company’s faith-based market sector. Those projects included facilities for Prestonwood Baptist Church, Prestonwood Christian Academy, First Baptist Dallas, Faith Christian Center, Fielder Road Baptist Church, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s MacGorman Chapel and Performing Arts Center. Bowen’s approach focused on understanding each client’s mission and aligning project teams with the client’s goals.

Throughout his career, Bowen advanced through leadership positions of increasing responsibility. In those roles, Bowen helped implement companywide processes and protocols supporting business development, client service, and preconstruction. He also coined Manhattan’s trademarked “Builder-Driven Preconstruction” to describe Manhattan Construction Company’s approach to integrating construction knowledge into the preconstruction process.
As a member of the leadership team, Bowen helped the formation of Manhattan’s Culture Statement: "Manhattan is a family of builders committed to the development of teams who do the right thing for our projects, our clients, and each other." This statement is one of the four pillars underpinning Manhattan's Guiding Principles.
Beyond Manhattan Construction Company, Bowen served on advisory boards and professional organizations supporting construction education, workforce development, and industry advancement. His service included roles with the Texas A&M University Construction Science Advisory Board, Dallas Architectural Foundation Board, University of Texas at Arlington College of Architecture Dean’s Advisory Council, Bridge Builders/Construction Education Foundation, Dallas Capital Improvement Committee, QUOIN/Associated General Contractors Board of Directors, TEXO Board of Directors, and Construction Industry Outreach Advisory Council.
Bowen’s industry and community service included recognition with the Boy Scouts of America Construction “Good Scout” Award.
