Olson earned both his Bachelor and Master of Architecture from University at Buffalo where he spent time as an exchange student at Arhus School of Architecture in Denmark. After completing his degrees, he remained active in education serving as a Software Instructor and Adjunct Professor of Design.
In a career dedicated to process and technology, Olson served as a Project Architect before moving into roles as BIM Manager, Director of Practice Technologies, and Interim Chief Information Officer. His technological expertise will elevate VLK’s client experience through integration of programs and processes.

Olson will be located in Fort Worth, but his responsibilities will serve all VLK offices across the state.
VLK Architects also announces Scott Wilcox has joined the firm’s Austin office as Architecture Director for its Central Texas offices. With more than 15 years of experience, Wilcox has managed client relationships as Operations Lead and Project Director.
“Scott is a great addition to our Central Texas team,” Harris said. "His experience and leadership will be key to our growth and development in that market.”
Wilcox earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science and a minor in management from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from Mercer University. As Architecture Director, Wilcox is responsible for working alongside firm leadership to establish and implement strategy for the architecture teams in Central Texas. He will also manage resources, determine hiring needs, manage workloads, and motivate and mentor staff in the region.
“I am excited to have Scott join VLK as Architecture Director leading our Austin and San Antonio offices,” Hiles said. “His leadership, expertise, and communication skills will make our firm better and will assist in strengthening the culture of our Central Texas offices.”
