The Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge is now open for all to enjoy. This vision has turned to reality after a decade of work. The Land Bridge unites the two sides of the park, previously separated by Wurzbach Parkway. It is unique in the nation, as it was built for both people and animals. Deer have already been spotted using the bridge.
The Land Bridge is named after Robert L.B. Tobin, for sponsoring the feasibility study to see if such a bridge could work, and for the generous donation that closed out the private fundraising, ushering the bridge into reality.
"It is because of the generosity and the advocacy of the people of San Antonio that this bridge exists," said former Mayor of San Antonio Phil Hardberger. "I hope the people of San Antonio enjoy this. It will be their bridge, forever."
SAN ANTONIO, TX — San Antonio's newest landmark was recently completed, with 7.5 miles of trails now connected. The Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge, constructed by SpawGlass, is a little over half a mile from both major parking areas to the land bridge. The average walking time for half a mile is 15-25 minutes. The Land Bridge trail from the Savanna Loop to the Water Loop is .25 miles long.
