SOUTH PORTLAND, ME — HNTB announces Matthew Hearn, Associate Vice President, as its Northern New England Office Leader. Hearn joined the firm in 2019 and most recently served as Office Operations Manager for HNTB’s Capital Region offices comprising Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, and West Virginia.
As Office Leader, Hearn will be responsible for managing HNTB’s operations and offices in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, including overseeing project delivery, client relations, business development, and employee development.

Hearn has been involved in military operations and major government projects over the past two decades, including his service in the United States Marine Corps, program management roles for the U.S. Department of Defense, and consulting roles for the USAID, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the U.S. Department of State. He has extensive experience in managing federal programs, geopolitical relations, and business development. At HNTB, Hearn also served as a Project Manager for the firm’s program and construction management work for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

Hearn is a certified Project Management Professional and Capability Maturity Model Associate. He also was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for combat operations as a reconnaissance marine in the U.S. Marine Corps. He has a master’s degree in global policy from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Maryland.
