NNECA Announces 2019 Excellence in Concrete Construction Award Winners

SOUTH PORTLAND, ME — The members of Northern New England Concrete Association (NNECA) gathered at Church Landing in Meredith, New Hampshire, to celebrate the award winners of the 2019 Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards.

Coleman Concrete, based in Conway, New Hampshire, won the infrastructure category for providing the ready-mix concrete on the Bearcamp Relief Bridge on Route 16 in Ossipee.

“This was a particularly challenging project, as we had to get Route 16 back open as soon as possible. With the use of high early-strength concrete, we were able to accomplish this in 72 hours, 12 hours ahead of schedule,” said Curtis Coleman, President of Coleman Concrete. Coleman went on to thank Dom Cyr of Reed & Reed and Dan John from the New Hampshire Department of Transportation for their collaboration on the project.

Redimix Companies, out of Manchester, New Hampshire, won the concrete pavements category for providing the ready mixed concrete on the KC-46A Airfield pavements and Aircraft Repair Parking apron at Pease National Guard in Newington, New Hampshire.

“It’s always a thrill to work at Pease, and to provide a concrete pavement that withstands the loads of these massive planes is such a challenging and rewarding experience,” said Marco Iacobucci, Sales Manager for Redimix.

Groen Construction from Rochester, New Hampshire, won the low-rise concrete building category for the Warner Fire Station in Warner, which was built with Insulating Concrete Forms.

“Working with the Town of Warner, we were able to help design and build an incredibly safe and energy efficient building that fits into the town’s character and that the townspeople are proud to have invested in,” said Sarah Currid, Business Development Manager for Groen.

NNECA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion, improvement and growth of the ready-mixed concrete industry. Since 1987, The Northern New England Concrete Association has worked to represent the concrete industry through ongoing training and education, promotion, safety concerns and long-range planning efforts.
