McCarthy Awarded Texas Workforce Commission Skills Development Fund Grant
The $600,000 grant is currently being used to enhance McCarthy’s craft professional training program in Texas. A total of 400 workers in 45 different occupations — from laborer to welder to crane operator — are included in the current program.
“McCarthy is committed to providing an unrivaled workplace for craft professionals,” said Franklin Brown, McCarthy Learning Solutions Manager, based in the firm’s Dallas office. “This effort includes a vigilant focus on safety and offering exceptional training so our craft can grow and develop in their careers. We recently worked to ensure consistency in position titles, training, promotion requirements, and compensation across all field occupations, and now this grant will help us deliver even better training to more individuals across our Texas communities.”
McCarthy has partnered with Lone Star College in Houston to provide training classes on project sites. Some courses will follow standard curriculum and others will be customized and developed by Lone Star College in conjunction with McCarthy. Classes will be led by Lone Star instructors and McCarthy leadership. Training courses will start late Q1 2023.
