The Alterman Foundation is funded by the company’s year-round nonprofit events, including the Alterman Sporting Clay Shoot and the Alterman Golf Classic, which have raised more than $350,000 since 2018. To date in 2022, charities that have received checks are: Saving a Hero’s Place, which honors the memories of fallen law enforcement officers and firefighters, the Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas, breast cancer support network Pink Warrior Advocates, Corazon Ministries in San Antonio, which provides resources for the homeless and marginalized community, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Home in a Week, and Christy’s Hope. In 2022, the total amount donated is $172,000.
Alterman employees nominate charities they think the foundation should support. They often include organizations that employees support personally through donations and volunteering. A board of Alterman employees reviews the nominations and decides on how the funds will be distributed. One check per week is presented to a charity organization or cause.
Alterman President and CEO Greg Padalecki points to the foundation’s motto — Wired to Give Back — as emblematic of Alterman’s commitment. “As an employee-owned company, we are always looking for ways for our people to give back to the community, both as individuals and as representatives of Alterman," he said. "Through the foundation, we can amplify those efforts to make lasting impacts and build meaningful relationships. We hope to continue growing the campaign from year to year."
The foundation integrates money and manpower to gives employees an opportunity to get involved with giving back to organizations that strengthen communities through volunteerism, innovation, development, and grants.
