At the event, the late Steve Dishman was honored with the 2022 AGC Houston Master Builder Award. The AGC Houston Master Builder award is presented biennially at the APEX gala. The honor recognizes an individual or organization for their contributions and commitment to advance the commercial built environment in the greater Houston area. The term Master Builder comes from early construction history. It was a title of the highest respect, reserved for individuals involved in the design and construction of structures that enhance the community.
During his 45-year career with Brookstone, Dishman was actively involved in promoting and improving the construction industry through his years of commitment and service in the AGC Houston Chapter, serving as Chapter President in 1999. In addition, he served as Texas Building Branch President in 2007, and was honored with Life Governorship status on the AGC of America Board. Dishman was a founding member and Chair of the AGC/AIA (American Institute of Architects) Joint Committee, as well as a board member of the Construction Career Collaborative.
“We are very proud to recognize so many outstanding projects with these APEX Awards and enjoyed getting to celebrate at such a wonderful event," said Kyle Holland, President/CEO of AGC Houston. “It is a true testament to the resilience of our AGC Members to see these projects completed, all while dealing with the numerous challenges presented in the world today. It was also wonderful to get to honor the late Steve Dishman as our AGC Houston Master Builder for 2022. Steve’s longtime dedication and commitment to the AGC and the Houston construction industry was unmatched, and he certainly fits the definition of a Master Builder.”
