CIBOLO, TX — The Lower Seguin Road Reconstruction project has been recognized as the Project of the Year in the Transportation category for Small Cities/Rural Communities by the Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association (TxAPWA).
Delivered through a partnership between the City of Cibolo, engineering firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN), and contractor D&D Contractors, the project was honored at the 2025 Texas APWA Annual Conference in McAllen, Texas. Elaiza Alvarez, PE, CFM, LGPP, accepted the award on behalf of LAN.
The project reconstructed a key arterial roadway in Cibolo, improving mobility and safety for residents and travelers in one of the fastest-growing areas in the state. Scope included roadway widening, drainage improvements, and pedestrian infrastructure enhancements to accommodate future growth and alleviate congestion.
“This recognition underscores the collaborative effort and shared vision between the City of Cibolo, our design and construction teams, and the community,” Alvarez said. “We’re pleased to have delivered a project that supports long-term development while improving everyday travel for Cibolo residents.”
The TxAPWA Project of the Year award honors excellence in the management and administration of public works projects, recognizing teams for their innovation, partnerships, and service to the public.
