AUSTIN, TX — The
Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approves financial assistance totaling $61,965,000 for water and wastewater projects and authorizes $65 million in Flood Mitigation Assistance grants.
Water and Wastewater Projects
- Chatt Water Supply Corporation (Hill County) - $3 million for water system improvements
- City of Menard (Menard County) - $5,595,000 for water treatment and water system improvements
- City of La Porte (Harris County) - $13,840,000 for wastewater system improvements
- Sunbelt Fresh Water Supply District (Harris County) - $7,580,000 for wastewater treatment plant expansion
- Crystal Clear Special Utility District (Guadalupe County) - $1,950,000 for water system improvements
- Lake McQueeney Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (Guadalupe County) - $18 million for dam improvements
- Lake Placid Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (Guadalupe County) - $12 million for dam improvements
Flood Mitigation Assistance Grants
The grants are funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and will be used to mitigate approximately 3,600 structures from flood damages and prevent future losses. Nine applications from Texas communities were approved by FEMA for this assistance.

- Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 - $9,885,942.86 for drainage projects
- Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 - $10,178,196.46 for drainage projects
- Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 - 3,432,907.50 for drainage projects
- Montgomery County - $12,989,312.69 for acquisition projects
- Orange County - $7,125,313.50 for elevation projects
- City of Houston - $5,122,958.47 for elevation projects
- City of Conroe - $1,358,125.50 for elevation projects
