WYLIE, TX — ARCO/Murray has been awarded the contract to construct the Wylie Water Treatment Plant IV Expansion No. 2 for North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD). This project represents a major investment in the region's future, ensuring access to drinking water for millions of North Texans.
Located north of Dallas, the Wylie Water Treatment Plant is a cornerstone of NTMWD's potable water system, currently serving more than 2 million residents across the rapidly growing region. This expansion will not only support current demand but also prepare for an anticipated future population increase of up to another 2-plus million residents.
AECOM is serving as the construction manager, with Jacobs as the engineer of record. ARCO/Murray will serve as the general contractor, responsible for delivering the critical expansion work.
"This project directly impacts the health and quality of life for our communities," said Patrick Hidder, Executive Vice President of ARCO/Murray. "We are proud to partner with NTMWD, AECOM, and Jacobs to deliver the facilities needed to provide safe, reliable water to families and businesses for decades to come."
The project increases the finished water treatment capacity of Plant IV by 70 million gallons per day and includes construction of new flocculation/sedimentation basins and filtration facilities, expansion of existing ozone and chemical treatment capabilities, and other miscellaneous improvements across the site. Construction completion is anticipated by November 2029.
