HOUSTON, TX — BGE Principal and Director of Land Development Mike Fitzgerald, PE was elected to the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Academy of Fellows. The designation of Fellow is bestowed upon members who have dedicated outstanding service to the organization, military engineering, and the A/E/C industry.

Fitzgerald has been a member of SAME for 25 years, and he also served as an Officer in the U.S. Army from 1995 to 1999 as a Combat Engineer. He has more than 20 years of professional engineering experience (16 of which with BGE) focused on creating master-planned communities in the Houston region.

“I’m honored to be selected as a Fellow for SAME," Fitzgerald said. "For me, it highlights my service and passion for my country and profession. I enjoy investing my time in such a great organization that is helping develop our industry’s future leaders."

BGE CEO and President Lee Lennard (also a Fellow of SAME) is proud of Fitzgerald’s accomplishment as well.

“I couldn’t be happier for him. He sets a great example for his profession, and I am pleased to see SAME recognize him with this honor,” Lennard said.

Fitzgerald will officially be inducted into the academy in May 2021 as part of the society’s annual Fellows Event.
