SAN ANTONIO, TX — Skanska USA Building’s San Antonio team recently hosted a Day of Discovery for more than a dozen Comal ISD students on the Texas State University Campus in San Marcos, Texas. The event gave students a firsthand look at careers in the built environment at one of the company’s active construction projects, the STEM Classroom Building. Students were welcomed to the site and given an overview of the project, along with an introduction to careers in construction and the role Skanska plays in delivering projects like this one.
Helping students understand the importance of the construction industry and the many career paths it offers is vital as communities across Texas face a growing need for skilled workers. Day of Discovery provides an opportunity to connect local students with the industry and inspire future talent.
Before entering the active construction site at Texas State, students joined the team for a safety orientation and stretch and flex and were provided with the PPE needed to safely explore the project.
