TxDOT Cuts the Ribbon on Mobility and Safety Improvements Along RM 2244 in Travis County
“We’re averaging about 4,000 more vehicles on Bee Cave Road per day compared to three years ago when we broke ground on this project,” said TxDOT Austin District Engineer Tucker Ferguson. “This project enhances both safety and mobility for area travelers as the population in Travis County continues to grow.”
“Three years ago, our agencies came together to create a better experience for drivers through the area,” said Travis County Commissioner Gerald Daugherty. “This project demonstrates the value of community partnerships, patience for the processes and the benefits of working together.”
“We have a road through our community that is gorgeous,” said Westlake Hills Mayor Linda Anthony. “We have sidewalks and bike lanes. I’m so heartened to see people use them. I wasn’t sure they would use them, but they are.”
The $29-million project was funded by TxDOT and CAMPO. Aaron Concrete was the contractor for the project.
