Stevenson Joins Neel-Schaffer as Firm’s New Director of Safety and Health
Stevenson has 17 years of experience managing safety and health programs and/or providing safety consulting services for a variety of industries. He served the last six years as the Director of Safety/Project Manager for a commercial construction company, and prior to that he worked for 11 years for a national firm that provides safety consulting services and training for hundreds of companies.
“I am passionate about effective risk management and building a culture to reduce loss and increase awareness and efficiencies,” Stevenson said. “My ultimate goal is to develop a culture of elite safety champions through actions, behaviors, and processes.”
“Matt will be responsible for implementing a proactive safety culture and transforming Neel-Schaffer into a leader in the engineering industry with regard to safety,” said Ed Everitt, Neel-Schaffer General Counsel.
Stevenson will work with project managers to develop worksite- or project-specific safety plans. He will complete risk and safety compliance inspections for office and field personnel, provide internal training for office staff and field personnel, manage Neel-Schaffer’s incident response procedures and actions, and serve as the firm’s representative to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Stevenson is certified through the National Association of Safety Professionals as a Certified Safety Manager - Construction (CSM-C) and holds OSHA 500, OSHA 510, OSHA 3015, and OSHA 5119 Certification. He is a graduate of San Diego State University, with a Bachelor of Arts in communication.
