The project will encompass a 79,000-square-foot, two-story addition to the acute hospital, adding 96 beds and space for activity therapy, an outpatient clinic, a gym, activity yards, and a kitchen. AP will also renovate the existing hospital kitchen. The renovation and construction are planned to kick off in winter 2023 with a planned completion in spring 2025.
“Mental health care is a growing and needed area within the medical field, and it is an honor to work on this Central Texas project with Acadia Healthcare,” said Addisu Negash, Project Executive at AP. “We will leverage our vast health care facility experience to provide Cedar Crest hospital with top-quality work efficiently and better equip this facility to provide life-changing care to Central Texas residents.”
Stengel Hill Architecture designed the Cedar Crest Hospital addition.
AP has a long history working with Acadia Healthcare, including completing Rio Vista Behavioral Health Hospital in El Paso, Texas, earlier this year. Additionally, AP is also working with Acadia on renovation and expansion projects in Tucson and outside Phoenix, as well as constructing a new behavioral health facility in Mesa, Arizona.
