TWDB Approves Financial Assistance Totaling $171.7M for Water, Wastewater, and Flood Projects

AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approves the following financial assistance totaling approximately $171.7 million for water, wastewater, and flood projects:

  • $750,000 to the Nueces River Authority for a flood mitigation evaluation
  • $2.97 million to the City of Albany (Shackelford County) for water system improvements
  • $3.17 million to the City of Whitewright (Grayson and Fannin counties) for water system improvements
  • $59 million to the Riverbend Water Resources District (Red River County) for water system improvements
  • $31.04 million to the Agua Special Utility District (Hidalgo County) for water system improvements
  • $6.22 million to the Jim Hogg County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2 (Jim Hogg County) for water system improvements
  • $3.5 million to the Dean Water Supply Corporation (Smith County) for water system improvements
  • $10.8 million to the Champions Municipal Utility District (Harris County) for water and wastewater system improvements
  • $20.6 million to the City of Katy (Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller counties) for wastewater system improvements
  • $19.01 million to the City of Mercedes (Hidalgo County) for water system improvements
  • $5.82 million to the City of Mount Vernon (Franklin County) for wastewater system improvements
  • $2.85 million to the South Rains Special Utility District (Rains County) for water system improvements
  • $6 million to the Travis County Water Control and Improvement District - Point Venture (Travis County) for water system improvements

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
