TULSA, OK — Manhattan Construction Company announces the retirement of Joe Mannon, Director of Scheduling, after a 50-year career. Throughout his tenure, Mannon scheduled more than $10 billion worth of projects.

“Joe’s impact is not only in the projects he helped support but through the colleagues he mentored and inspired,” said John Reyhan, President of Manhattan Construction Company. “As he embarks on his well-earned retirement, we extend our deepest gratitude for his commitment, leadership, and friendship. His fingerprints are on many of the most important projects in our company’s history, and his focus on detail and production-based scheduling will be felt for generations to come.”

Mannon began his career with Manhattan in November 1975, joining as a Draftsman and Scheduling Engineer after earning his Certificate in Drafting from Indian Capital Area Vocational-Technical School in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Over the decades, Mannon’s expertise and leadership propelled him through the ranks — from Senior Project Scheduler in 1982, to Scheduling Manager in 1990, and ultimately to Scheduling Director in 2007.

Mannon was initially based in the company’s Muskogee office, and in 1980 transitioned to the company’s headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He managed project scheduling for all projects in Oklahoma and traveled to support project schedules across the nation. Mannon created and led the company’s scheduling department, enhanced scheduling technology, and improved systems and processes to support the company’s growth.

In addition to projects throughout Oklahoma, his early work included projects for the City of Houston, Texas, such as the Municipal Courts Offices and Tranquility Park. In the 1980s, Mannon guided the scheduling for the River Center Mall project on the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas.

Back in Oklahoma, his influence played a key role in major expansions at Ascension St. John and Saint Francis Hospital, and in later years, he supported projects like River Spirit Casino, BOK Center, ONEOK Field in Tulsa, the Oklahoma State Capitol Dome, and the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mannon’s support and expertise was integral to the success of many other Manhattan projects.
