OMAHA, NE — Mike Witiw has been promoted to serve as HDR’s Central Region Aviation Leader.

Based at HDR's headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska, Witiw will focus on expanding the full-service offerings to aviation clients around the region and developing the firm’s aviation practice. He will also continue to provide project management and technical expertise for large-scale airfield programs.

“I am most looking forward to working with all of the areas in the Central Region and growing our aviation group,” Witiw said. “Using our national aviation expertise and partnering with the local area teams will be a win-win for our aviation program.”

Witiw brings more than 20 years of expertise in aviation planning, design, and construction management. He specializes in the oversight of large, multi-year, and multi-phase projects and programs, having successfully delivered numerous commercial, military, and Department of Defense aviation projects from planning through construction. His experience encompasses all aspects of design including airport terminals, runways, taxiways, aprons, airport roadways, navigational aids, and lighting.

While working at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Witiw helped with the planning, permitting, and execution for the construction of a pedestrian walkway over an active taxiway. It is the tallest and longest bridge of its kind in the world and is able to allow wide-body aircraft to taxi underneath.

“Mike has a deep understanding of our aviation clients’ unique opportunities and challenges that can help them navigate new technology applications, the evolving needs of travelers, and regulations,” Aviation Director Bill Peduzzi said. “He will be instrumental in connecting our teams and clients to our comprehensive project development and delivery services from planning through construction.”
