Deaton serves HNTB’s clients as a Project Director and Associate Vice President. With more than 30 years of experience in the architecture and construction industries, he has been involved in a wide variety and sizes of public (federal and local) and private projects using traditional delivery and alternative delivery methods.
Deaton has been a designated DBIA Professional since 2004, as well as a certified DBIA Instructor since 2011. He became a DBIA Fellow in 2022. He has been involved with the local DBIA Mid-America Region for more than 15 years, working on several committees and roles on the Executive Council, including President. “It’s an honor to work with the DBIA and its National Board of Directors to upend the status quo on projects both big and small to reinvent what design-build can accomplish for our nation,” Deaton said. “I’m confident that this group of dedicated leaders will be successful in ensuring that everyone in its community — from practitioners to owners to everyday citizens — takes advantage of the power of design-build so they can realize higher quality outcomes for today and thousands of tomorrows.”
Deaton is based in HNTB’s Kansas City, Missouri, office. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Kansas. He is a registered Architect in both Missouri and Texas and a LEED-Accredited Professional.
