COLUMBIA, MO — Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS), a heavy civil construction company with locations in Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas, announces that it has acquired the equipment of the Highway Services Group from Penhall Company, expanding its pavement maintenance and preservation capabilities nationwide.
With this equipment asset purchase, ESS now owns the largest diamond grinding and grooving fleet in the United States, with more than 242 pieces of equipment (55 grinders and groovers and 187 supporting trucks and equipment). Paired with decades of experience, this equipment expansion helps ESS take on complex airport runway, pavement, and critical infrastructure work safely and efficiently.
“The addition of this kind of equipment, in this amount, shows our dedication to strengthening what we deliver to our partners every day,” said Brandon Finn, Executive Vice President of Asphalt Operations at ESS. “By expanding our fleet, ESS now has the equipment, expertise, and team in place to deliver pavement maintenance projects of any scale.”
ESS also recently hired a number of skilled professionals to join its pavement maintenance team. While welcoming new teammates and specialized expertise to the organization, this expansion enhances ESS’ ability to take on larger, more complex projects with greater speed, precision, and consistency.
