Householder Receives 2019 AIA Iowa Young Architect Award
Householder began at INVISION as an intern in 2008 and proved herself as someone that clients could look to for guidance. Her ability to build trust among clients as well as contractors, vendors and internal teams offered her the opportunity to continue to grow into a position on our Strategic Council. Her ability to manage expectations within a team and gain consensus helped the council to achieve the goals they set forth.
In addition to earning her architectural license, Householder has also dedicated numerous hours to the AIA. She has served on the Iowa Emerging Professionals Committee, Central States Region Emerging Professional Committee, as well as serving on the board for the Central Iowa Section for four years. She is now a part of the executive committee and is anticipated to be the fifth woman to lead the organization when she is elected as the President in 2020.
Householder has mentored younger staff and students within the ACE mentor program and Iowa State University and Kansas University. She was also a member of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute in 2016. She played a role in the class project, the creation of a Joppa Outreach prototypical tiny house. This prototype helped promote awareness of the program as well as assisting with fundraising. She continues to be involved as a volunteer.
The 2019 AIA Iowa Young Architect Award is given to individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession in the areas of design, education and/or service in an early stage of their architectural career.
