CRCL is a nonprofit organization founded in 1988 with a “primary vision to unite people in action to achieve a thriving, sustainable Louisiana coast for all.” CRCL strategically supports initiatives for the long-term health of Louisiana’s rich and diverse coastal wetlands through community connection, thought leadership, policy advocacy, and partnerships. Each year, CRCL honors a select few who demonstrate an action-driven passion for preservation — leaders of the movement to save the coast.
Receiving this award is an acknowledgment of Foret’s many years of service and contribution. Foret has assisted in the development of effective management strategies for the restoration and protection of Louisiana’s coast — a vital component of community, industry, and wildlife.
“Dr. John Foret’s dedication to Louisiana’s coastal resources and communities is evident in all aspects of his work, well beyond that of his professional role serving as Vice President of the Environmental Division at Fenstermaker," said Charles Fenstermaker, President. "Dr. Foret consistently displays his passion, often outside the bounds of his employment, as he actively seeks to promote and protect Louisiana’s coastal wetlands.
“Whether conducting research, developing innovative approaches to unique and complex coastal projects, serving as a mentor to young professionals, or engaging local, state, and federal partners to meet the needs of the moment, Dr. John Foret is a shining example of a coastal steward. His unwavering commitment to the health and sustainability of Louisiana’s coast is unmatched, and he has devoted his entire career to this important cause.”
