MCCOMB, MS — The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) names District 7 Maintenance Engineer Brad Cupit, PE, to the position of District 7 Engineer. Headquartered in McComb, MDOT District 7 encompasses 13 counties in southwest Mississippi. The move comes as longtime District 7 Engineer Albert White announces his retirement.
“Brad’s calm leadership, vast experience, and problem-solving abilities will serve him well in this role and, ultimately, the people of southwest Mississippi will benefit from his expertise,” said Brad White, MDOT Executive Director. “Of course, he has big shoes to fill as long-serving and widely respected Albert White leaves his post for retirement. However, I have every confidence that Brad will use his talents to continue to build a modern, multimodal transportation system Mississippians can be proud of.”
Cupit brings 29 years of experience to the District Engineer position and has spent his entire career with MDOT. Upon graduating with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Mississippi State University in 1997, he began working in MDOT’s Yazoo City Project Office as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT). He then moved to the Hazlehurst Project Office, where he served as EIT, Project Engineer, and Resident Engineer for 17 years.
As a result of a promotion to District Maintenance Engineer, Cupit moved to the District 3 Office, which covers 12 counties in the Mississippi Delta as well as several western counties. After seven years in the position, he transferred to perform the same role in District 7, where he has served for two years. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor and resides in Brookhaven.
As District 7 Engineer, Cupit will oversee all construction and maintenance projects in the area, which covers the southwestern region of the state, including portions of the Pine Belt as well as Natchez, Brookhaven, and Mendenhall.
