LAKE CHARLES, LA — Arcadis, in a joint venture (JV) with Janssen and Spaans Engineering Inc., Modjeski and Masters, and Huval and Associates, Inc. (Calcasieu Design Partners), will support design for the Interstate 10 (I-10) Calcasieu Bridge Improvements Project.
Replacement of the 70-year-old Calcasieu River Bridge will revive a vital connection between the Louisiana cities of Lake Charles and Westlake. The JV will upgrade a crucial 5.5-mile stretch of I-10 from I-10/I-210 west to Ryan Street in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, delivering enhancements to improve safety, connectivity, and sustainability. The project cost is valued at $2.3 billion.
Arcadis' scope of work for the project includes updating existing interchanges and roadways. Additionally, Arcadis will deliver a wide range of specialized engineering and design services to support the successful execution of the project including environmental studies and permitting; traffic engineering, featuring a Transportation Management Plan and design of permanent signage, signals, and pavement markings; Intelligent Transportation Systems design, structural design for sign support structures, and roadway and drainage design; bridge design for the I-10/I-210 flyover ramp; and hydraulic models for the main span bridge.
