Based in Baltimore, Wiedefeld will help set HDR’s transportation strategy in the region and expand the firm’s service lines throughout the Northeast. His responsibilities will also include overseeing the planning and delivery of major regional initiatives and projects for HDR’s transit, aviation, highways, bridges, freight rail, and maritime clients.
With experience at the local, regional, and state levels in the public sector as well as over a decade of private sector experience, Wiedefeld has an understanding of the complex operational and policy challenges facing HDR’s transportation clients. Wiedefeld most recently spent seven years as General Manager and CEO of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, also known as the DC Metro. Prior to that role, he served as the CEO in charge of Baltimore/Washington International airport.
Active in the industry, Wiedefeld has contributed to conferences, testified before Congress, and been a featured speaker for numerous transportation associations. He is a board member of the Washington Airports Task Force, a leader of the Maryland Association of Engineers, and advisory board member for the Voorhees Transportation Center at Rutgers University.
