American Council of Engineering Companies Elects Burke to Vice Chair

RICHMOND, VA — The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) announces that Eric Burke, PE, Associate Vice President with Michael Baker International, has been elected to serve as ACEC Vice Chair for the 2026-2028 term. Burke will be officially installed at the 2026 ACEC Spring Conference and Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C., in May.

"Eric Burke's extensive advocacy experience and deep understanding of both state and federal engineering issues make him an invaluable addition to ACEC's leadership team," ACEC Chair John Rathke said. "His commitment to advancing our profession through effective advocacy has strengthened our industry's voice for two decades."

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Burke leads the surface transportation business in Virginia at Michael Baker International. Additionally, he brings more than 30 years of engineering experience to the role, along with professional licensure in eight states and the District of Columbia. His ACEC involvement spans 20 years of leadership at both state and national levels, including serving as ACEC Virginia President and National Director.

"I'm honored to serve ACEC in this expanded capacity as we work to advance the business interests of engineering firms nationwide," Burke said. "Our industry has significant opportunities with infrastructure investment, and I look forward to helping strengthen our advocacy efforts across the board."

An active member and past Chair of the ACEC Virginia Advocacy Committee, Burke has been instrumental in advancing engineering priorities in state and federal policy arenas. At the national level, he serves on ACEC's Transportation Committee, Membership Committee, and Federal Agency Procurement Advocacy Committees, providing strategic guidance on critical industry issues.

“ACEC’s strength lies in anticipating what engineering firms will need to succeed in a rapidly changing marketplace, and Eric brings exactly the kind of strategic insight that supports that mission,” said Linda Bauer Darr, ACEC President and CEO. “He understands how policy, procurement, and industry innovation intersect, and that perspective will be invaluable as we continue shaping a business environment where engineering firms can grow and compete.”
