Buchanan has 22 years of experience, having worked in the public water/wastewater utility industry, the private sector, and the U.S. Navy, including time as an executive leader. Prior to joining Dewberry, he led LandDesign’s public utilities group, providing management to utility projects and oversight to capital improvement plans. In his new role with Dewberry, Buchanan will be responsible for serving clients across North and South Carolina.

Wing, PE, LEED AP. “Not only is he an experienced engineer, but he has also worked as a water and wastewater treatment plant operator and managed collection and water distribution systems. Having Steve on the team allows us [to] serve our existing and future clients as we seek to understand their challenges and provide solutions to make systems more resilient and operationally efficient.”
Buchanan earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (2006) and is a member of NC One Water and the Professional Engineers of North Carolina.
