VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Todd Childress, PE, rejoins HNTB as Capital Region Transportation Group Director. With more than 30 years of experience in bridge and structural engineering and project management, Childress will lead transportation infrastructure projects for clients across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
In his role, Childress will collaborate closely with HNTB’s clients to identify project goals and implement tailored strategies to advance their transportation programs. His responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of project delivery, from scope development to cost and quality control.

Childress brings extensive experience in Southern Virginia’s transportation network, having worked on key infrastructure projects that improve mobility and connectivity in the region. Most recently, he worked with a consulting firm where he served as Program Manager for the Virginia Department of Transportation Hampton Road District’s Program Support Services for Special Structures.
Childress holds both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Old Dominion University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Virginia.
