WASHINGTON, DC — Clark Construction hosted their second trade contractor outreach event at the new Capital One Arena project, bringing together more than 245 representatives from local contractors, including 73 Washington, D.C.-certified business enterprises (CBE). The event highlighted upcoming contracting opportunities to modernize and transform the arena into a high-tech, high-touch building that will serve millions of annual visitors for the next 25 years and set a new standard for fan experience and technological innovation.
Planned in partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), and the Department of Employment Services (DOES), the event featured a formal program providing insight into the project’s scope, schedule, and upcoming bid opportunities, concluding with an interactive resource expo.
D.C. Councilmembers At-Large Anita Bonds and Kenyan McDuffie, along with representatives from DSLBD and DOES, were present, showing support and sharing remarks alongside Clark project leaders.
“At DSLBD, we know that building a stronger D.C. means building strong partnerships," said Rosemary Suggs-Evans, Director at DSLBD. "Our collaboration with Clark Construction on the new Capital One Arena project is a powerful example of how public-private partnerships can expand opportunities for Certified Business Enterprises. Together, we’re not just constructing buildings; we’re creating pathways for local businesses to grow, hire, and thrive right here in the District."
The event’s trade resource expo connected attendees with Clark’s project leaders, local resources, and prime contractors, helping them to be well-positioned to compete for work on the project. The expo also aimed to open doors for potential partnerships, sparking future economic growth within the District. Three local CBE firms, The Diaspora, Jangueo Mobile Bar, and Sweet Tooth Cafe & Cakes, provided catering for the event.
