HYATTSVILLE, MD — Skanska announces the promotion of four senior leaders — Joseph Hockersmith, Brent Hunt, JJ Moegling, and Stephen R. Skippen — to Vice President of Operations in Skanska USA Civil’s Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.

In his new role, Hockersmith will oversee the delivery of major infrastructure projects in the Mid-Atlantic. Hockersmith brings 30 years of civil construction experience all in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. market, including four years with Skanska. His experience spans all operational roles on major civil and transportation infrastructure projects. Hockersmith led Skanska’s work on the Howard Street Tunnel and Baltimore Penn Station NGHSR Improvements in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as contributed to the Long Bridge North and 11th Street Bridge projects in Washington, D.C.
In his new role, Hunt will oversee operational teams in the Mid-Atlantic. Hunt brings nearly 30 years of experience, all with Skanska, where he started in 1997 as a Field Engineer on the MacArthur Mall project in Norfolk, Virginia. Hunt has contributed to major infrastructure projects including the Portsmouth Marine Terminal Offshore Wind Staging Port and the Elizabeth River Tunnels in Virginia, and Maryland’s Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial/Senator Thomas "Mac" Middleton Bridge.
In his new role, Moegling will oversee operations in the Southeast. He brings 26 years of experience, all with Skanska, where he began his career as a Field Engineer on the Pier 2 and Pier 21 Replacement project at the Norfolk Naval Station. Moegling has contributed to major projects including the Skanska-led I-4 Ultimate, the I-4/557 Interchange and the I-75/Big Bend Road Interchange projects in central Florida, the I-495/Route 1 Interchange, a major Washington, D.C. Capital Beltway junction, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune’s new entry road in North Carolina.

In his new role, Skippen will lead operations and client relationships in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast across major infrastructure projects while driving strategic pursuits for the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic civil business units. Skippen brings more than 26 years of construction experience, including 16 with Skanska. He has contributed to major projects including the 11th Street Corridor Project, the Francis Scott Key Bridge recovery, the Long Bridge North project, and Maryland’s Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial/Senator Thomas "Mac" Middleton Bridge. He was also central to the Howard Street Tunnel Modernization project in Baltimore and the Lindsay C. Warren Bridge project in North Carolina.
