COLUMBIA, SC — Max Metcalf, of Greenville County, was named Chairman of the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Commission at the commission's recent meeting in Columbia, South Carolina.
“I’m honored to be elected Chairman of the SCDOT Commission and grateful for the trust my fellow commissioners have placed in me,” Metcalf said. “Our state’s transportation system is the backbone of South Carolina’s economy and quality of life. Together, we’ll continue building momentum to connect people, support jobs, and strengthen our state for generations to come.”
Metcalf is the Manager of Government and Community Relations at BMW Manufacturing and was appointed to the SCDOT Commission representing the 4th congressional district in May of 2022.
Metcalf is a 1986 graduate of Clemson University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in economics.
Metcalf was the Director of Transportation and Intergovernmental Relations in the Office of Governor Carroll A. Campbell Jr.; District Administrator for the Office of Congressman Bob Inglis; and Vice President of Public Policy with the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce until joining BMW in 2001.
