WASHINGTON D.C. — After two years online, USGBC National Capital Region recently returned for an in-person A Midsummer Night’s Green celebration at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. Industry leaders and sustainability advocates from across the region gathered to honor the recipients of the 2022 Community Leader Awards, which recognize the people and projects leading the way to a greener future in "the DMV."

The recipients include both Project Awards, which recognize high-performance, healthy design, construction, and operations, and Green Leader Awards, which honor individuals and organizations demonstrating exceptional commitment to USGBC’s mission in the D.C. community.

• APTA: Innovative Project of the Year, Health and Wellness in the Built Environment
• Marie Reed Community Learning Center: Green Schools Award
• River Point: Rise to the Challenge Award
• Southwest Neighborhood Library: Climate Champion
• 801 East Men’s Shelter: Judges’ Choice Award
• Southwest Neighborhood Library: People’s Choice Award

Also recognized as award finalists were 1222 22nd Street, Cambria on Q, and Whitman-Walker Health at LIZ.
