DES MOINES, IA ― National general contractor and construction management firm The Weitz Company has promoted Emily Kessinger to Business Development Manager. Her primary responsibility will be leading Weitz’s national pursuit of student housing projects.

Kessinger was promoted to her new role after spending the past 22 months in Weitz’s marketing and communications department supporting the company’s student housing and senior living product lines. She will be based in Weitz’s Des Moines, Iowa, operations office but will connect with student housing developers, owners and operators nationally in partnership with The Weitz Company Executive Vice President Chris Harrison.

Kessinger, who joined Weitz in December 2017, is responsible for cultivating relationships with developers and higher education institutions to understand their needs for the future and to offer construction solutions that fulfill them. Her background in client relations, marketing and sales will aid her ability to build teams and bring resources into projects.
