OMAHA, NE — Matt Whaley, AIA, has been named Managing Principal of HDR’s Omaha, Nebraska, architecture practice. A six-year veteran of the firm, Whaley will work with the Omaha team to establish and cultivate a vision for the practice, manage the day-to-day operations, and engage with clients to support new and existing work. This will include collaboration with market sector leaders, project managers, studio leaders, and clients.

“I enjoy working with people and providing the support needed to accomplish our goals,” Whaley said. “We are fortunate to have so many innovative and talented architects, and they make it easy to come to work every day. I love design — and the technical expertise we have at HDR to back it up. The experience of walking into one of our projects and seeing the result of our shared vision with our client is incredibly rewarding.”

Whaley’s 15-year background in the architecture profession is diverse. He started out as a Designer working on a variety of project types, many of which were international projects. Since joining HDR, he has taken on more project management, business development, and operations roles. He was HDR’s first Project Manager for the firm’s leading data center client; he said that working with the project’s dedicated team to develop and expand HDR’s relationship with that client is one of his most memorable accomplishments.
