SENECA, KS — Dawn Hueske was recently named the Kansas Department of Transportation’s (KDOT) new Chief of Local Projects. She replaces Tod Salfrank, who retired after 24 years of service.
After graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in civil engineering, she joined the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and worked in various bureaus for 11 years. In 2005, she became an Engineering Associate in KDOT’s Seneca Construction Office.
In 2007, she was promoted to a Local Road Engineer in Local Projects. She was selected as the Assistant Bureau Chief, where she served until her recent promotion. Hueske continues to work primarily from Seneca, Kansas.
The bureau focuses on assisting Local Public Authority with compliance in using state and federal funding for improvement projects, and it oversees the local portion of the National Bridge Inventory program.
“I enjoy interacting with local transportation partners to solve problems and find funding to achieve their goals,” Hueske said. “We see projects through the entire process on a routine basis. I like completing projects in communities and accomplishing that goal."
