DES MOINES, IA — The 98th Annual State Convention for the Associated General Contractors of Iowa (AGC of Iowa) was recently held in Des Moines, Iowa. In his message to the members, 2019 AGC of Iowa President Sonny Hall of the Absolute Group welcomed everyone attending and discussed the theme of the convention.

"As we enter a new decade, the theme for this convention is appropriately, ‘Seeing Clearly in 2020,'" he said. "As the industry changes and young leaders emerge, we need to focus on maintaining excellence on the jobsite and in AGC of Iowa. This convention and the opportunities presented will help you and your business prepare for future success. This industry faces many challenges from finding qualified workers, aggressive environmental and workplace regulations and a changing membership demographic. There are many topics to discuss over the convention.”

Among the topics covered at the convention were “Under-designed Projects and Rain – How to Manage the Impact in Time and Dollars”, “Flood Recovery, Partnering for Success”, “Updates to AGC of Iowa Subcontract”, “Reasonable Suspicion Testing” and more.

In addition to the guest speakers and seminars, there was also the announcement of the AGC of Iowa’s Recognition of Safety Excellence Awards, Committee Meetings and Division Breakout Sessions, the Hospitality Rooms, the President’s Banquet, the Iowa State Legislative Leaders Preview and a visit by Iowa’s Governor Kim Reynolds.

The AGC of Iowa PAC Auction's theme this year was “To 2020 and Beyond”, and the event helped raise money for the industry.
