“Traditionally, Caterpillar has focused on its premium models,” said Cory Dalbec, Product Manager for Ziegler CAT. “With the Next Gen line, customers can choose from a broader range of models for each machine, lowering their costs by only paying for the features they need.”
Customers recently had a chance to try out the Next Gen equipment at a series of in-person demonstrations at locations in Shakopee, Staples and Zumbrota, Minnesota, as well as Sioux City and Altoona, Iowa. These events allowed customers to experience the machine capabilities first-hand in a variety of real-world conditions. The following machines were included:
- 308 and 310 Mini Excavators
- 330 and 336 GC Hydraulic Excavators
- 938 and 950 GC Wheel Loaders
- D6 Dozer
- D6 XE Dozer, the first and only electric-drive dozer in the industry
The events also featured the Operator Challenge, an international competition for operators sponsored by Caterpillar. A total of 60 operators competed against each other, performing a variety of precision challenges in a Cat Compact Track Loader and Mini Hydraulic Excavator. The winner from the Ziegler CAT events will go on to the North American Championships this fall in North Carolina. The global championship will be held at the 2020 ConExpo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
