OMAHA, NE — Scott Aurit, HDR Conveyance and Water Senior Program Manager, based in the firm's Omaha, Nebraska, office was nominated and approved by the Water Environment Federation (WEF) House of Delegates (HOD) to serve as the incoming Speaker-Elect starting at WEFTEC 2024 and as the Speaker of the House at WEFTEC 2025.
The House of Delegates is the deliberative and representational body of WEF. It advises its Board of Trustees on matters of strategic direction and public-policy development and has the authority to elect and remove trustees as provided in the WEF Constitution and Bylaws.
The Speaker of the House is responsible for general supervision of the affairs of the HOD and works directly with the WEF Community Leadership Council (CLC) to maximize the interactions between the CLC and the 75 member associations representing more than 30,000 water professionals.
Aurit has been a member of the Nebraska Water Environment Association (NWEA) since 2006 and has served as Chair of the Great Plains Committee, Program Committee, and Collection Systems Committee. In 2017, he led the efforts to host the WEF Collection Systems Conference in Omaha to highlight the significant improvements, including HDR-designed projects, that have been implemented as part of the Omaha Combined Sewer Overflow Control Program. He was recognized by WEF with a Volunteer Service Award. Most recently, Aurit helped establish a Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion committee with the NWEA to maximize opportunities for increased membership engagement.
“I am thrilled about Scott’s recent appointment as Speaker-Elect of the WEF House of Delegates," said Ann Williams, HDR’s Water Manager for Nebraska and Iowa. "This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to Scott’s leadership, expertise, and dedication to advancing the water industry through WEF and assisting other HDR employees to engage in NWEA/WEF for professional and personal development."
