DENTON, TX — Skanska USA Building’s University of North Texas (UNT) project team, which is building the new Science and Technology Building, hosted three lunch and learns in partnership with the Denton Fire/EMS and UNT Campus Police Department. This three-day training was a way for the community and the owner/customer to be involved.
During the sessions, Skanska’s Emergency Action Plan was covered, including how and when to implement it, roles and responsibilities during emergencies, and important information for dispatch when calling 911 on a job site.
Denton Fire/EMS brought emergency personnel and vehicles to demonstrate real-world job site emergency procedures, along with hands-on exercises showcasing their life-saving techniques using specialized equipment and apparatuses.
“This training is essential to ensuring the safety of our workers,” said Nathan Leroy, Assistant EHS Manager with Skanska USA Building in North Texas. “By partnering with Fire and EMS, we educate our contractors on critical life-saving measures first responders are capable of during construction site emergencies. Collaborating closely with first responders helped equip them to perform rescue operations safely and effectively and understand the unique challenges of our job site. This was a true team effort, raising awareness about moments where every second counts.”
