Choi began his architectural career in New York City. Since 2005, he has worked as an architect in Seoul, South Korea, where his work won numerous design accolades. His experience includes 12 million square feet of completed construction projects in nine countries.
“I’m interested in timeless architecture — not trends,” Choi said. “Having worked and lived around the world, I think there is a universal architectural language that applies to all of humanity while still being appropriate for a particular location and time. This perfectly fits the design ethos of HOK, and I’m pleased to be coming back to the U.S. and joining such a creative, innovative team in San Francisco.”
“As we continue to expand our design team, we’re thrilled to welcome Peter,” said Paul Woolford, AIA, Design Principal for HOK in San Francisco. “His vast international experience and distinctive design point of view will greatly enrich our projects for clients in the Bay Area and beyond.”
Choi frequently writes and speaks about architecture and design. His community involvement includes participating as a member of the Seoul City Architecture Committee, which evaluates the plans for new city projects, and serving as a judge for numerous architecture competitions in South Korea. Additionally, he has served as an adjunct professor, lecturer, and visiting critic at universities in South Korea and the United States.
